These photographs are from my book 100 Women, 100 Years which includes the portraits of one hundred women from a small rural community in the New Forest, UK. The book was published to commemorate one hundred years since the vote was first granted to (some) women in the UK.

The youngest subject is aged 11 and the oldest 100. I asked each subject to bring along an object which she feels is significant to her and then to write exactly 100 words about it: why she had chosen it and what it means to her. These words are included alongside the portraits.
